Description
A pair of kakariki (red crowned parakeet) foraging in the grass on the lawn outside the guest lodge on Kapiti island. Kakariki vanished from the mainland forests with the introduction of pests (rats and stoats) and competition from European birds brought to New Zealand by European immigrants in the 1800s. Kapiti island has a healthy population and we saw several small flocks flying over the forest during our one night stay on the island.
Framing & Mounting: This image can be purchased printed on either stretched canvas or on aluminium using the Chromaluxe dye sublimation process. We recommend aluminium prints due to their high definition, vibrant colours and superior fade, moisture, stain, and scratch resistant properties. The print is supplied ready to hang.
