Description
A pair of male hihi (stitchbird) perching on a branch adjacent to one of the feeding stations at Zealandia Ecosanctuary in Wellington. I spent two mornings watching these birds at the feeding stations and only ever saw males turning up to feed. There seemed to be a definite pecking order with 3 or 4 birds often waiting for one to leave before all going in to feed together. Note that this image wa taken in low light with a narrow depth of field hence the hihi on the left is not quite in as sharp a focus as the one on the right
