It's been a good summer for the common blue butterfly this year.  We've had large numbers of these beautiful little butterflies in our garden since January, flying low over the lawn and feeding on various flowers in the borders. Two of their favourites are Nemesia Aromatica (top photo with a female butterfly) and Felicia Amelloides(bottom photo with a male butterfly).The male butterflies are much bluer with blue scale covering most of their wings. The dawn is a special time of day for me. Of course, as a photographer, dawn and dusk are the magic times of day when the soft touch of the low lying sun brings colour to life but its more than that. About ten years ago my wife was setting up a business to sell jewellery that she was making using semi precious stones. We came up with the name Crystal Dew Ltd, for this company.  Crystal, partly because she was working with crystals in her jewellery, but also because crystals have pure structures with interesting properties with respect to focusing energy and light.
