Tui In The Garden
It's that time of year again when the cherries and kowhai are in flower and our garden is full of tui getting drunk on nectar and chasing each other about with the males constantly puffing themselves up and singing, putting on a display for the females. We often have 30 or 40 tui in the garden at a time fillling the air with their beautiful resonant notes and intermittent squawks. Pouakai Tarn At Night
I've been wanting to do a night climb on a moonlit night to Pouakai tarn for a while but the weather just hasn't been suitable. Last night was cloudy again and I had given it up as a lost cause until I woke at 1:40am and saw the mountain clear and bold under the full moon.
